Decca Records, the iconic British record label founded in 1929, has announced the release of a new edition of David Bowie's classic album "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence." This special edition marks the 40th anniversary of the album's original release and includes a variety of bonus material.
"Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence" was originally released in 1983 and featured Bowie alongside Ryuichi Sakamoto, Tom Conti, and Takeshi Kitano. The album was inspired by Nagisa Oshima's 1983 film of the same name, in which Bowie played a British colonel held as a prisoner of war in a Japanese camp during World War II.
The new edition of "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence" includes the original album remastered in high definition, as well as a bonus disc featuring demos, outtakes, and live recordings. The package also includes a new book with liner notes by Bowie biographer Nicholas Pegg and a foreword by Sakamoto.
The release of this new edition of "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence" is a testament to the enduring popularity of Bowie's music and the legacy of this classic album. Fans of Bowie and Sakamoto will not want to miss this opportunity to own this special edition.
